FIRSTS: Eleanor and Liverpool City Council

Eleanor was the first woman to be elected to Liverpool City Council, serving  Granby Ward as an Independent Councillor from 1909. She was regularly returned unopposed  until she decided, in November 1935, not to stand for re-election.
